However, with the intensity at which smartwatches are gaining popularity worldwide, they might soon outnumber smartphones. Moreover, with almost every necessary feature packed in, smartwatches turns out to be a pretty good alternative for a phone.

Numerous gadget manufacturers have come up with their own piece of delicious cookie by trying to offer consumers the best of smartwatches. However, most of these fail to make it to the top, but a few succeed in hitting the right note on the scale.

A few Indian electronic giants too have decided to join the race by putting forth their creations, one of which is Intex Technologies who recently unveiled the iRist smartwatch. Unlike other smartwatches that run Android Wear, this one is powered by Android KitKat operating system and has built-in 3G, WiFi and GPS.

Priced at Rs. 11999, the watch will be available in colours – Black, Pink an Orange, at least for now. The device has a 3G Micro-SIM slot. As a result, you can make and receive calls using the watch by simply pairing it with your Bluetooth headset.

The 600mAh battery is capable of delivering up to 4 hours of talk-time and around 200 hours of standby time, which is pretty impressive.

The Intex iRist sports a 1.56-inch display, which is exactly what the Moto 360 has to offer. However, it comes with a slightly lower resolution of 240 x 240. The smartwatch is powered by a 1.2 GHGz dual core processor along with 512MB RAM.

This one has got the style. Apart from a spectacular design, the watch has some great features built-in including a pedometer, heart rate sensor, light sensor and every other bit that the competitors have to offer.

The watch features a 1.56-inch touchscreen with a 320 x 290 pixel resolution. Now, this may not be the best display resolution, but is surely good enough for a tiny screen.

Powered by Android Wear, the Moto 360 is the first smartwatch to support auto-brightness. The phone features the ambient light sensor that makes the watch go completely black when not in use. However, when you lift it, it lights up again.

What’s so fascinating about Android Wear? Well, apart from just telling you the current time, the platform brings all your mails, text messages and other essential notifications from your smartphone to the Moto 360.

The most interesting part is the voice command feature that can precisely follow commands such as ‘Navigate’ and ‘Call a car’.

It can be connected to your phone using Bluetooth connectivity. The 420 mAh battery can easily go on for around 2 days. 4GB of internal storage is sufficient enough to hold all your favourite music tracks. Connectivity options also include Wi-Fi and NFC.

Final Verdict

When it comes to looks, Moto 360 grabs the prize with its classic yet a cutting-edge design. However, in terms of features, the Intex iRist can surely make you happy. For a slightly larger display, you might want to opt for the Smartwatch 3.
